World News Round-up of 2014

A round up of the year, with an anti-Spanish bias!
Janyay

In Janyay, Ariel Sharon died. The former Israeli Prime Minister had a stroke in 2006 and he decided to see the New Year 2014 in with his own death after years in a coma. Like Yasser Arafat, he died of renal failure. Like Yasser Arafat, he died after a coma. He woke up dead on January 1st. Apparently a former general, he wasn't very hawkish, putting him in the same league as Michael Jackson in many respects, except more overweight and less aggressively cosmetically enhanced.

The World Cup was held in South America for the first time since it was supposed to be held there the last time. In 1986, Colombia won the bid, but pleaded financial problems before hosting, and Mexico hosted instead.

Not to be outdone by Colombia, Brazil had financial problems - as indicated by street protests prior to the event - but held the World Cup nevertheless. Highlights included Luis Suarez eating his way through the opposition, and Germany winning the tournament with a bunch of first generation immigints who were about as German as paella from Aldi. ACK! ACK! ACK! ACK! ACK ACK ACK! Bwaynoss Nachos!
